The Central Development Youth Abroad (CDYA) , represented in Ghana have donated an amount of five thousand Ghana Cedis to the five-year-old boy who had his left hand amputated after his stepmother inflicted machete wounds on his arm and left it unattended to.

Presenting the donation, an executive member of the group, Mr. Lucas Mensah, said the group was touched by the little boy’s predicament and thus decided to show their widows mite to help take care of him. “The truth of the matter is that, that is not the end of Isaac. We believe there is hope for him”. He added

He said, as an association, that has the development of the Central Region at heart, it was appropriate for them to show concern to the five year old boy to encourage others to do same. He said “What we are doing is just to help develop the rhythm as our name indicates. So whatever that is about development, we are ready to help.”

Mr. Mensah used the opportunity to also advise parents and guardians to adopt healthy punitive measures that will not expose children to any form of physical or emotional abuse.

On her part the Deputy Director of nursing services for Child Health Department at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital, Afia Ofori Atakora, on behalf of the hospital’s management, expressed gratitude to the group for their kind gesture. “It’s our hope that we put it to good use for Isaac’s benefit and I know he is going to benefit greatly from it. It is a huge amount and we say God bless you so much”.
